Rolfing

Active Isolated Stretching is a method of muscle therapy and fascial release. This type of Athletic Stretching Technique provides effective, dynamic, facilitated stretching of major muscle groups. AIS provides functional and physiological restoration of superficial and deep fascial planes.
A golf-specific health and fitness program includes:

Rolfing sessions usually last between 60-90 minutes. Each session consists of some time spent in the beginning evaluating your current structural support, posture, alignment and goals. I will also help you recognize and explain to you where, how and why restrictions within your body (that you may not even be aware of) occur and have affected your current structure.
Session 1-3 will address all of the superficial layers of connective tissue (muscle, tendons, ligaments). This will allow the body to begin to balance and reorganize the 1st layer of the body, (This would be similar to pulling a sweater on over a shirt or blouse and working out the places that bind and tug at you). Not only does this feel very freeing to the torso, arms and neck, it will set the stage for the deeper core work of sessions 4-7.
Sessions 4-7 address the restrictions within the deeper core layers that can affect posture, function, ease of movement, day to day quality of life and biological functions. These restrictions, or undesirable holding patterns, may have been caused from anything from in-utero constraint, birth complications, childhood injuries, sport related injuries, accidents or, inherent family patterns and occupational consequences. Rolfing, while having a dramatic effect on ones physical structure, often has positive effects on ones self-image and physical perception as well.
Sessions 8-10 are opportunities to re-address any problem areas now that they have been (as we say – opened up), to fine tune the work of sessions 1-7, and to integrate and balance the beginning, middle and end of our Rolfing - Structural Integration sessions.
NOTE: As with any professional encounter, the client is not only encouraged, but expected to voice their level of comfort with the intervention and techniques that take place in any given session.
Rolfing, as an interactive method of therapy, and will require active movement, feedback, awareness and input from you. In every session, I will accomplish our goal that will address specific areas, depths and layers of your body by using either assisted stretching, hands, and or elbows. Each sessions consists of work being done on different parts of your body; therefore a session may have you face up, face down, side lying or sitting. Standing, walking and movement work is also involved to bring all of the structural and neurological aspects of your body into balance. Although you can remain clothed through the session, bathing suits, underwear or spandex workout attire will allow access to the specific areas being addressed for the maximum benefit of the Rolfing session.
"No matter what your body's appearance is on the outer level, beyond the outer form it is an intensely alive energy field" Echart Tolle. At first, it may feel somewhat awkward to actually look at yourself deeper than the superficial layer of your appearance. This awkwardness quickly fades as you begin to understand the logic of the sessions and begin to see the deeper structural implications of how every part of the body has a direct effect on the others. ( i.e. A small change in your lower leg or foot may have a profound affect on your back or neck.)
Rolfing involves every level of touch, from the lightest touch of the surface tissue, to the deeper work on the deep core connective tissue (muscle, tendons, ligament and fascia). Intra-oral work of the tongue, jaw muscles, and the TMJ are also addressed.
